Fall is in the Air!
With summer now over and the fall flavours and colours of fall moving in I always feel the need to create recipes using vibrant flavours and colours.
Some things are worth cheating for!!!!
Last weekend I was lucky enough to be invited to a girlfriends house for a fish fry! Her boys and husband had been to a local lake that week fishing and caught some of our local pickerel. It’s a very mild white fish that makes the perfect portions for a fish sandwich!
This recipe is Pho-bulous!!!!
It’s a long weekend here in Canada, Victoria day weekend! So that meant something a little more special for Sunday brunch at the cottage this week. I’ve decided to go completely Paleo so other than the noodles and soy sauce (which I omitted for mine) this is a great recipe to adapt to your dietary needs.
Doesn’t everyone like to flex their Mussels!!
Maybe it’s the warm air of Spring but for the last week all I’ve craved is fish and seafood! I’ve been eating mussels, shrimp, black cod and trout! Happy, happy days!
It’s been a while since I had Trout and every time I have it I forget how awesome it is! It’s a great fish because it’s mild and absorbs flavours easily!
The mighty fish! How many times have you heard that you should eat less red meat and more fish? Well I have to agree. It’s so easy to eat the proteins we’re comfortable cooking but sometimes it’s fun to think outside the box and cook outside your comfort zone! 🙂
knows your name”
It’s going to be a short one today….I’m actually off to Boston in the morning and with only a few days in the week, it’s been crazy trying to fit everything into 3 days. I haven’t been to Boston before so I have a huge list of to do’s and to eats!! I’m not sure going in November is the wisest idea but hey…we have 5 days without kids and we’re outta here!!!
I have to admit it took me a lot longer than some to fall in love with fish. As a child my parents introduced me to all foods and ingredients but as much as I wanted to like fish I just couldn’t. I’m not sure if it was the taste or just the idea of it. My mom often tells the story about how I could catch a fish in the lake at the cottage, clean it and cook it happily. But wouldn’t eat it. It’s hard to even imagine now as I LOVE FISH and love how great it is for us. Like chicken, organic trout has qualities in taste and texture that you will easily notice. Do yourself a favour and seek out Blue Goose Organic or Natural Trout.
